Suzani Asmlash Grant is an accomplished entrepreneur and business owner. Born in Ethiopia, Suzani escaped the dangerous turmoil of that country’s civil war (1974-1991) by walking through inhospitable, hostile terrain to eventual safety in Khartoum, in neighboring Sudan, before leaving for the Netherlands as a refugee in 1989.
Suzani arrived in the United States in 1999, settling in Las Vegas initially. Subsequently Suzani met and married her husband Gary Grant and moved to Houston in 2008. Suzani then opened what has become a very successful restaurant, Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant in 2012 which was voted one of the top 50 restaurants in Houston by the Houstonia Magazine in 2016.
